In circumstances when a patient is unexpectedly moved to observation status following a radiology procedure, the Radiology Department will notify the physician's office of the changes so that the office staff can then alert the Physician/P.A. to complete a brief H&P. Radiologists will also write an order on the patient's chart to notify the attending physician that the patient has been moved to observation status, thus alerting them of the necessity for an abbreviated H&P. "The credentialing board was downsized. I'm only privileged to do half of your operation.'
