From the Desk of the President of the Medical/Dental Staff As you know, the North Carolina Physicians Health Program (NCPHP) is available to aid any physician whose health and/or effectiveness has been impaired by alcohol or drug addiction or mental illness. National statistics reflect that at least 13% of practicing physicians will sometime during their careers have an addictive or psychiatric problem which will seriously impair their ability to practice medicine. As of July 13, 1994, NCPHP has worked with over 462 impaired physicians throughout North Carolina. On an annual basis, Wesley Long Community Hospital has contributed to NCPHP. As President of the Medical/Dental Staff, I recently received a request asking that all Members of the Staff consider making a perse rial contribution to NCPHP. On behalf of the Chiefs of Staff, please consider financially supporting this important organization and program. Contributions may be forwarded to: NCPHP 4700 Six Forks Rd., Suite 220 Raleigh, N.C. 27509 Sincerely, William E.
