WESLEY LONG OBTAINS DIGITAL
IMAGE ANALYSIS SYSTEM
Wesley Long has recently implemented a
Digital Image Analysis System in its laboratory. This instrument combines light microscopy with computerized densitometry
to quantify factors related to malignant
tumor growth and behavior.
This instrument will provide "DNA Histograms" and can also quantitate proteins in
the cell nuclei which reflect the speed of
tumor growth and its state of differentiation.
"Acquisition of this instrument will decrease the time between the initial diagnosis of malignancy and the establishment of
prognostic factors," says Dr. Mike
Friedberg, of Guilford Pathological Associ-
ates, the WLCH pathology group.
