Wesley Long COMMUNITY HOSPITAL^ HOSPITAL LIBRARY FACT SHEET MARGIE FURR, HOSPITAL LIBRARIAN AVAILABILITY OF FACILITIES AND SERVICES The Library is opened to all who wish to use the facilities during the time that the Librarian is present. LOCATION: Basement PHONE: 854-6299 HOURS: Librarian's hours: Mon., Tues., Wed., Fri, 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.. When the Library is locked, Hospital and Medical Staff members may contact Security for admittance. INFORMATION SERVICES Reference: Aid in locating factual and/or bibliographic information. Bibliographies: Preparation of subject bibliographies on request. Computer Searches: Access through the Librarian to online searches on all NLM and many other databases. Access to CINAHL available on computer in the Library. Internet: Access to Internet available for staff members; orientation and password required. Interlibrary Loan: Books, audiovisuals, and journal articles may be borrowed from other libraries. Current Awareness: Table of Contents service - copies of table of contents of selected journals sent on a regular basis. Information Dissemination - Selective Dissemination of Information searches, information on articles, books, and materials of special interest sent to users requesting this service. Training and instruction: Orientation for new users as well as inservice instruction on library use, CINAHL, Internet. CIRCULATION Available for staff only Loan Period: Books: 2 weeks Journals: 3 days Audiovisuals: 2 weeks COLLECTION Books: Basic current reference collection in medicine, nursing, allied health, administration and management. Small collection of Consumer Health titles. Organization: National Library of Medicine Classification; MESH Subject Headings. Journals: Medicine, nursing, administration and management, health care. Shelved in alphabetical order in stacks; new journals on New Journal Shelves. Audiovisuals: Small collection of videotapes; many others available from Cone Medical Library and other libraries through Interlibrary Loan. Shelved on Audiovisual Shelf. Vertical File: Subject arrangement of pamphlet and ephemeral material. Alphabetical arrangement in Vertical File using MESH Subject Headings. Indexes: Print; Health Planning and Administration. Computer: CINAHL. Access through the Internet to free Medlines. Access to searches on other databases through the Librarian. GIFTS AND DONATIONS The Library will consider gifts and donations of materials less than five years old. Disposition (use in the collection, donation to another library, disposal) will be at the discretion of the Librarian. L#
