Day Hospital Will Make Patient Visits More Convenient
The new Day Hospital, located on the second floor of the east wing, will streamline the
admission and discharge process for outpatients undergoing surgery and patients who
are admitted to the hospital on the same day as their scheduled procedure. Because it
serves as both the entry and exit point for these patients, the new Day Hospital offers
patients, family members, physicians and hospital staff a more user-friendly and
efficient admission and discharge. It includes space for patients to complete their
admission requirements, family members to wait and outpatients to recover in the
phase II postoperative recovery area or the 10-bed observation room. Designated
outpatients and patients to-be-admitted can register, complete any required pre-surgery
clinical tests and assessments and prepare for surgery in one location. Also, to increase
the number of patients returning home the same day and to enable physicians to
schedule procedures later in the day, the new Day Hospital will offer expanded hours.
Some new Day Hospital features:
• provides a single location for pre-admission or pre-procedure orders and discharge
procedures
• ensures a warm, friendly and easy process for patients, family members, physicians
and staff
• creates a system and environment that encourages family participation and timely
updates during the patient's stay
• allows patient scheduling through one phone call, regardless of the number of
departments involved
• increases the number of patients who can register and complete admission
requirements prior to day of surgery
