MOSES CONE HOSPITAL REVIEW XI, No. 3 GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA June, 1977 Trustees Elected Mr. Hemphill Mr. Weil Mr. Mr. William Hemphill and Charles L. Weill, Jr. recently were elected to the Moses Cone Hospital Board of Trustees. Mr. Hemphill. President of Guaranty Corporation, was educated in the ensboro School System and at vling Green Business University. Kentucky State University. I le was the first Chairman of the ernor's Advisory Council of Voca- lal Education. He has served as a member of the North Carolina Milk nmission, and as President of the Oreensboro Community Council where vas instrumental in forming what is FIRST MOVE SOON? Radiology, Admitting, Medical Records, Emergency Department and Division 2500 are making preparations to move soon. Radiology, Admitting, Medical Records and Emergency Department will move to their new location on the first floor of the new wing. Immediately following the initial move, renovation of the original areas occupied by these departments will begin. Division 2500 will move to the third floor of the new wing, and will then become Division 3700. The vacated space on 2500 will then be renovated to provide a surgical intensive care unit. When the new and enlarged surgical suite on the second floor of the new wing is complete, Surgery, Anesthesia and Recovery will move and Coronary Care Unit will occupy the renovated 2900 wing. This project also includes an expansion and renovation of the areas occupied by Pharmacy/Central Supply and Purchasing/Stores/Printshop. In addition, new construction will provide larger facilities for Cardio-Cath Lab and the Family Practice Center plus a six-story bed wing. Initially only through the third floor level of the new wing will be used for patients, which will provide a net addition of 50 beds, bringing the present capacity of 427 beds to an approximate total capacity of 475 beds. The fourth floor will be unfinished at this time. The fifth and sixth floors will be used temporarily for the hospital's educational programs and the AHEC operation. Later the hospital plans to build an educational wing and at that time the fourth, fifth and sixth floors will be used for patients, and will provide an approximate 125 additional beds. Then the hospital's total bed capacity will be approximately 600. The renovated areas will contain approximately 50,000 square feet. The new construction will contain approximately 181,000 square feet. now the United Way of Greensboro. He has been listed in "Who's Who in the South and Southwest," and is a veteran of World War II. He succeeds Mr. Charles A. McLendon, who has served on the board of trustees since 1967. Mr. Weill, who is also a Greensboro native, is President of Robins and Weill, Inc.
