MOSES CONE HOSPITAL REVIEW Vol. X, No. 4 GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA August, 1976 Dr. Weatherly Heads Medical Board Standing: Dr. Weatherly, Dr. Singer Seated: Dr. Johnson, Dr. Bryan Dr. Carl H. Weatherly succeeded Dr. Charles M. Hassell as President of the hospital's Medical Board for the staff year beginning July 1. He also serves as Chief of Pediatrics for the hospital. Dr. Weatherly, a Leaksville native, is a graduate of Duke University Medical School. He interned and served an assistant residency at the University of Louisville. Following two years in the U. S. Air Force he did graduate work and served residencies at Children's Medical Center and Harvard University, Boston. Dr. Harry W. Johnson was named President-Elect. Dr. Johnson also replaced Dr. Donald C. Schweizer as Chief of Obstetrical-Gynecology Service effective July 1. Other officers of the Medical Board are Dr. Edwin L. Bryan, succeeding Dr. C. L. Beavers as Vice-President, and Dr. James W. Singer, Secretary, following Dr. P. F. Shelborne. Other members of the hospital's Medical Board are Dr. Robert H. Farley, Dr. Norman H. Garrett, Dr. Charles M. Hassell, Dr. Richard A. Kelly, Dr. James M. Lee, Dr. Leonard J. Rabold, Dr. Walter C. Ray, Dr. James F. Reinhardt, Dr. T. Edgar Sikes, Jr., Dr. Benjamin Vatz, and Dr. Peter R. Young. This is the way it was.... New wing takes form. Photo on the left depicts the Church Street side of the hospital being made ready for the construction of the new wing which began July 31,1975. Right photo shows at the present stage of construction. Steel and concrete structure of the six-story wing has been completed, and the masonry exterior and roofing are presently under construction. It is expected that Medical Records, Admitting, Radiology, Division 2500, and Emergency Room will begin moving into the new wing in December, 1976. Dr. Ravenel Joins Teaching Service On July 1, Dr. S. DuBose Ravenel left private practice in Binghamton, New York to join the hospital's pediatric teaching service. He is a graduate of Duke University School of Medicine where he also served a year in residency training. This was followed by three years of residency training on the Harriet Long Service of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. L to R: George Cornwell, Jackie Roh, "Chip" Day, and Charles Knisley Four pharmacy graduates began their one-year residency training program on July 1 in the hospital pharmacy. They are George Cornwell, pharmacy graduate of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama; William Day, who received his degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia; Charles Knisley, graduate of the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina; and Jackie Roh, who graduated from the Creighton University School of Pharmacy, Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. Jack Upton, Director of Pharmacy Services, is in charge of this program which began in the hospital in 1955.
