SPOUSES INVITED TO OCTOBER EVENING MEETING
When the Auxiliary meets on
the evening of October 15th, spouses
are invited to join members in hearing the featured speaker, Mr. Joseph
E. Elrod, III. He will be presenting
the medical malpractice issue as it
affects the medical family. Mr.
Elrod's firm places emphasis on handling and defending malpractice
cases.
The October meeting is scheduled in the evening in response to
suggestions to vary the time of our
membership meetings. There will be
a coffee and dessert social at 7:00
p.m. and the speaker will follow a
brief business at 7:30 p.m. This
meeting will be held at the Surgical
Center of Greensboro, 1211 Virginia
Street.
GREENSBORO
PHARMACY OPENING
With the cost of health care
making almost daily headlines, the
opening of the Greensboro Pharmacy was very timely. Representatives of the auxiliary, the medical
community, the Junior League of
Greensboro, Inc., Greensboro
Urban Ministry and community leaders turned out to see a dream become
a reality at the ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday, September 22.
Regular hours (Mondays 10 a.m. to 1
p.m. and Thursdays 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
were scheduled to begin the week of
September 23.
Amid the opening ceremony
activities, the business of preparing
the pharmacy continued. Dr. Vincent Cheek arrived with a large box
of medicines donated by the Wesley
Long Emergency Room physicians.
Prescriptions will be filled free of
charge for people who meet the eligibility criteria at the pharmacy.
From the outset, the auxiliary
has been involved in the development
of the pharmacy. Margaret Weatherly, Dianna Goodchild, Debby Lin-
der, Kendra Martin, and Jody Wren
will continue to serve on the Pharmacy Steering Committee. Hands-
on volunteers are needed to repackage medications, collect samples
from physicians, interview clients for
eligibility and educate and inform the
medical community about the pharmacy. If you are interested in finding
out how you can help the Greensboro
Pharmacy succeed in filling a vital
need in our community, please call
Dianna Goodchild.
