Dear Sewell,
Thanks so much for accepting the challenge of presenting to
the community "The History of Cardie-vascular Surgery in
Greensboro" in the Spring of 1993. As you know, all of the
lectures have been documented and published,
Most of us want to know what the state of the art was before
you came to Greensboro, what it was like when you came and a
documentation of what has happened since.
The paper should be "camera-ready" as it will be copied in its
entirety. There should be a one inch margin all the way around
and double spacing is preferable. Mark and Mike in AHEC are very
helpful is obtaining slides. Concerning the slides, for them to be
included in the printed volume, we need 3x5 glossies and that is
usually no problem. Also, all of the recent lectures have been
taped with the VHS recorder and this will be readily available
following the presentation. I. will take care of all of the posters
and advertisements. Please feel free to invite any number of
guests. The lecture usually lasts about 45 minutes...allowing time
for questions or comments.
A reception will follow. The Spring lecture usually will be
in the first week of May...the Fall, usually either the last week
of October or first week of November. It is held in room 0030 at
MCMH.
Hopefully, Volume 3 of the "History of Medicine in Greensboro"
will include Dr. George Wolff, Dave Claytor, Siggie Smith, (David
Newman did a terrific job at his lecture but has not furnished me
with the manuscript so I don't know whether he will be included or
not) and yours... if we have enough room, Norm Mayer's will be
included. Please let me have a copy very soon after you give it.
We have great presentations coming up and I am glad that you
will be a part of them. Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Robert L. Phillips, M.D.
