Old North State News 1887 1994 j-j& From the LK Editor's Desk Thanks to all our members and associates for attending and supporting the Old North State Medical Society (ONSMS) annual meeting on June 30th - July 3rd which was held at the Raddison ResortinMyTtleBeach.se. Thanks, again, to Dr. Arnett Coleman and his committee and to our president. Dr. John Daniel for an excellent scientific program. Our annual National Medical Association Meeting (NMA) which was held in Orlando, Florida from July23rd-July 28th was again a great success. However, continued success for our programs cannot be possible unless we continue to increase our membership and support for these great organizations. At our state and national meetings, yas a major focus. We o be focused on how our organizations interact with the very rapid changing medical practice environment, how we can continue lo be of service to our patients, and have the freedom to do this in as less of a restricted environment as possible. We must and will form a network to ensure our survival. I challenge all of us lo keep informed of these changing times. We must keep our stale and national legislatures abreast of our concerns and demands. No one will do this for us. Again, I appeal for all of us to support Dr. Steve McKinnon, our treasurer and associate editor of the Old North State News, to continue to pursue enhancement of our membership. This will give us the support to make the practice of medicine an enjoyable reality and not a fatality. For all those who did not attend the ONSMS or NMA this year, let us assist them in planning now to be a part of us in 1995.
