TREASURERS NOTES Dear Members: The Old North State Medical Society appreciates your support and look forward to you continued participation. The treasurer is strong and your membership will afford new added benefits for 1996. We will be able to offer an ONSMS credit card, investment and money management planning, through a major banking institution,, low cost mortgage loans, group malpractice insurance, as well as a car buying service just to name a few. We need you continued support and will unveil more benefits in the near future. Editors Notes n reflecting back on the proposed changes of health car approximately two years ago, most physicians were expecting a mandated state or national health care reform system . It was expected that solo physicians may be a thing of the past Some of us may be surprised that the self fulfilled prophecy did not happen as fast as other predicted. This brings about at least some good, news. That physicians may be taking charge of their own fate. However, I hope we do not rest on what, may be just coincidences. Several physicians' alliances were formed which should place physicians in position to negotiate or bargain in a more cohesive manner. I have advocated this to our members for a least eight years. We will not be able to fight this battle alone. Even if we do not agree with some of national or state medical associations. We all need to belong to something with logical goals and ideas that will deliver the best care to our patients. We must educate our patients as well to the health cere changes. (Continued page 2)
