BOARD OF DIRECTORS
TRIAD PHYSICIAN'S HEALTH PLAN
Members Present: Doctors Turner, Ruskin, Abrahams, Ballen,
Bowman, Bryan, Gioffre, LeBauer, Poole, Rowe, Singer,
Stiefel, Weissman, Young and Leone.
Members Absent: Doctor Norman H, Garrett,
The first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Triad
Physician's Health Plan was called to order at 7:00 a.m.,
11 October in Room 43 of Cone Hospital, The chairman
first reported on the meeting held on Tuesday, October 9th
with the Family Practice Group of Greensboro and the
meeting represented an open discussion with the family
practitioners regarding the overall plan of the Triad
Physician's Health Plan. It was felt that much was
accomplished regarding outlining the advantages and possible
disadvantages of becoming involved and it is hoped that
further discussion will be carried on with the members of
the board of directors by the family practitioner community.
It was emphasized by the family practitioners that their
hesitancy at joining at present is because of efforts to
obtain more information and it is hoped as concrete information
is available by the consultant management group that
the family practitioners will choose to affiliate with
the health plan.
It was suggested by Dr. Peter Young that the committee consider
making a press release with copies being sent to the Chamber
of Commerce that the physician's of Greensboro were developing
a health care delivery plan to address the problem of cost
effective medical care in our community. This press release
will be worked out by Doctors Turner and Young and presented
to the committee prior to press release.
The remainder of the meeting was spent discussing the various
contracts from Charter Med, Co-Med and AHMAC regarding their
fees, length of contract and covered expenses for managing
the Triad Physician's Health Plan. All general aspects of
the contracts were discussed and it was decided through Dr. Joe
LeBauer to seek legal consultation regarding interpretation
of the contracts from a medically oriented lawyer in Philadelphia
Pennsylvania. Mr. Beck will contact the chairman in actions
taken to have the contracts reviewed.
Additionally, questions regarding start up costs of development
by Charter Med as well as buy-out of the software at the end
of the negotiated contract will be posed again to Charter Med
