. (COPT) NORTH CAROLINA ) ) GUILFORD COUNTY ) THIS INDENTURE, Hade this the ^Oth day of Hag , 1911, hy and "between Bertha L. Cone, of the State of North Carolina, and Watauga County, party of the first part, to "THE MOSES H. CONE HEHORIaL HOSPITAL, INCORPORATED," a corporation of the State of North Carolina, with its principal office in the County of Guilford, party of the second part; WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the party of the first part desires to establish in or near the City of Greensboro an institution for the alleviation of human suffering, which shall "be an everlasting memorial to the memory of her late husband. Hoses H. Cone, who loved Greensboro so well, and who spent so large a portion of his active life in North Carolina; and WHEREAS, the brothers and sisters of the said Moses H. Cone, for the purpose of assisting in the establishment of such institution, have procured and induced Summit Avenue Building Company, the entire capital stock of which is owned by the party of the first part and the brothers and sisters of the said Moses H. Cone, to convey to the party of the first part the lands hereinafter mentioned, bo as to enable her, the said party of the first part, to execute a full and complete deed of conveyance to the party of the second part: NOW„ THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the purposes to be effectuated as hereinafter set forth, and in further consideration of the sum of One Dollar, the receipt of nhich is hereby acknowledged, the said Bertha L. Cone, party of the first part, has bargained, sold and conveyed, and does hereby bargain, sell and convey unto "THE HOSES H, COHE HEHORIAL HOSPITAL,, INCORPORATED,' and its successors forever, but upon the conditions and trusts hereinafter set forth, the following tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the State of North Carolina, Guilford County, and Gilmer Township, and lying near to but just north of the corporate limits of the City of Greensboro and described and defined as follows; to wit; That tract or parcel of land, which was conveyed to the party of the first part by Summit Avenue Building Company by deed dated the 23rd day of May , lfJUi and filed for record in the Registry of Guilford County, in Book , at page , and bounded as follows, to-wit: BEGINNING at the northeast corner of the intersection of North Elm and Third Streets; and running thence north with the east line of North Elm Street about fifteen hundred and forty (15^0) feet to high water mark on south bank oi North Buffalo Creek; thence down stream following the high water mark line on south bank of said Creek as it meanders to the west edge of Church Street; thence southwardly with the west line of Church Street about three thousand and twenty (3020) feet to the north edge of Third Street; thence weBt with the north line of Third Street about thirteen
