When Linda Maness, RNC, Maternity
Admissions, comes in she never knows
what to expect.
While the name of the department is
Maternity Admissions, that's really
misleading because the department handles all types of obstetrical and gynecological situations — ectopic pregnancies,
pregnant women with medical and obstet
rical emergencies, antenatal testing, medication administration as well as term and
pre-term labor evaluation.
"You never know what's going to hit
the door," said Maness. She added that
while the volume of patients can be stressful, it's also what the staff thrives on.
The Maternity Admissions Unit sees
about 1,250 patients per month. About
