Employees recycle 123 tons of trash
Every American creates close to four pounds of trash every day. But everything
doesn't have to go into an already overcrowded landfill. Employees of The
Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital care about our environment and show their
support by participating in the organization's recycling program.
It's not always convenient to separate recyclables from regular trash, but
employees' efforts kept 77.7 tons of paper and 46.2 tons of cardboard out of the
landfill in FY 95. While paper recycling remained at the same level as in FY 94,
efforts to recycle cardboard increased 53 percent. Through recycling, employees
not only saved landfill space and money, but they saved more than 2,000 trees.
That's one tree for every 117 pounds of paper and cardboard recycled.
