Report of Chancellor Ferguson Regarding Action Taken by the Student Senate
in Reclassification of Neo-Black Society
Verbatim report is as follows:
I am going to turn now to the subject of the action that was taken
on the campus with regard to reclassification of the Neo-Black Society by
the Student Senate. I have sent you people the basic documents on this subject
as they have been prepared. There is one document to be added to what you
already have and we have designated this Enclosure C (Appendix F) . This
is a letter that I addressed to Miss Cheryl Sosnik, now the Vice President of
the Student Government Association, dated April 10th. You will find attached
to that the letter that she had sent to me on April 4, 1973, In other words,
my letter was a response to the one that had come from her in her capacity as
President of the Student Senate. I shall make reference to these documents a
little later and I shall give you the most recent report with regard to this
material.
I know that all of you have read the news reports on events that
began especially two weeks ago on the morning of Tuesday, March 27th. I
might list the different documents which you now have. One is a copy of the
report sent to me by the special Ad Hoc Committee of the faculty that I asked
to review the action taken by the Student Senate with regard to the Neo-Black
Society. That is dated the 30th of March and is signed by all five faculty
