We have reviewed the conditions presented by the Employees' Committee
on Saturday, March 29, 1969, under which the employees would return to their job
on Monday, March 31, 1969. We would like to make the following response to
those conditions:
1. Effective April 5, 1969, we will begin a new minimum wage for all hourly
employees on our payroll at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro of
$1.80 per hour. For employees already at or in excess of $1.80 per hour,
a 10 per cent increase will become effective April 5, 1969. Employees that
are presently earning a wage between $1.40 and $1.80 an hour, whose increase
Co $1.80 does not represent at least a 10 per cent increase, will be given a
10 per cent increase. Example:
Old Rate New Rate
$1.40 $1.80
1.50 „ 1.80
1.70 1.87
1.80 1.98
2.15 2.37
2. Time and one half for all work over 40 hours per week and a five day work
week for full time employees; however, a 40 hour week in five days is not
guaranteed^
3. No food service employee will be dismissed by ARA Slater at the University
of North Carolina at Greensboro during the course of this action or any other time
without proven justification. No employee of ARA Slater will be otherwise
harassed or intimidated by management personnel. This statement also applies to
student employees at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. We agree to
these conditions, but want to make it clear that none of this has taken place
prior to or during these negotiations.
