Mr. Charles Davis opened the meeting for business. He emphasized our
purpose and pointed out that he would restrict discussion to matters concerning our efforts around the November 3rd incident.
Mr. Davis summarized the progress of the Citizens Concerned to date
for those not totally familiar with our purpose and development.  Individuals and groups active in Citizens Concerned have been at work on some
level since November 3rd about the gross violation of civil rights perpetrated that day.  Citizens Concerned represents a coalesing of those efforts.
Mr. Davis further explained that we began with a call for a federal investigation into November 3rd.  Upon receiving the strong facts pointing to
the need and justification for federal prosecution from the Forum with Prof.
Van Alstyne and Atty. Michaux, the report and discussion with Julian Bond
and his associates, and the ongoing input from the Greensboro Justice
Fund, we of the Citizens Concerned have elevated our call to that for federal prosecution.   One of our key programmatic planks had been to invite
Julian Bond to appear at a mass meeting in December to share his findings
with the community.  According to Anne Welsh, however, Bond will not be
available until mid-January.  Mr. Davis indicated, however, that we have
persisted in our efforts to deal with the November 3rd incident as a community.
At last Wednesday's meeting a Planning Committee was formed, chaired
by Rev. Brown and Rev. Knight, to map out overall plans for the Citizens
Concerned.  Mr. Davis called for the Planning Committee report, which was
read by Rev. Brooks, the Recorder for the Committee. After enthusiastic
discussion the statement of purpose and the plan of action proposed by
the Planning Committee were unanimously approved, with a few additions
and amendments.
Our statement of purpose as agreed upon is as follows:
"The purpose of the Concerned Citizens about the November 3rd
Incident is to bring before the U. S. Justice Department, the
Congress, the Senate, and the Nation, the strong support for
the need for the federal prosecution of the perpetrators of
the November 3rd murders in regards to the violation of civil
liberties of the slain and the community."
