Editor The result* ofStudent Govern-ment (SG) elections were released last night, ending weeks of cam-paigning. Joy Hopkins and Errin McComb are already involved in a presidential run-off. The two Hopkins and McComb enter run-off to decide president candidates finished nearly 100 votes apart, with Hopkins in the lead. Candidate LaShanta Givens, who garnered 139 votes in the popular election, does not appear on the run-offballot because she campaigned as a write-in. CurrentSGPresident Michael Pearson received two votes, de-spite the fact that he withdrew his nomination. The Vice Presidential race fared much as it did in the previ-ous election—LaKeishsa Baldwin broughtin 346 votes, winningher the post for the upcoming year. Candidate Chris Barron had 221 votes, finishing second. Also re-ceiving votes were Givens and Junior DelegatecandidateEmma Ryan. STUART JUfi-Writer Student forum sees low turnout The first of three forums to discuss the selection of a new chancellor for UNCG was held Wednesday. However, only two students attended the forum, which was open to anyone wish-ing to voice their concerns and opinions about the selection pro-to the Search Committee. The Search Committee is chaired by Katy Bell, who also chairs UNCG's Board of Trust- Faculty, alumni and staff are involved with the search fora new chancellor. Two students, including Student Government President Michael Pearson, ere also on the committee. Amongthe topics discussed at Wednesday'sforum were the cri-teria the new chancellor must it, what people are looking for in a chancellor and the need forwritten suggestions tobe sub-mitted to the committee. "What do you [the students] want in a chancellor?" Bell asked. BeDeipressedherown desires for thenewchancellor, including the integrity and strong educa-tional background that William Moran has shown in the post by "furthering the mission UNCG has." Bell also sees the new chan-cellor leading the school down new avenues. This is an opportunity for the school to reclaim its position in the UNC system as a quality school and for the school to build a strong studentbody," Bell said. Bell also hopes to see more dialoguebetween thefacul ty, ad-ministration and students. She discussed the concerns of fac-ulty members who want more multicultural issues to be recog-nized as well as pursuing an international and regional set of programs. According to Bell, the Faculty Senate would like to see the new chancellorimplement UnitPlan-ning, a program that enables each department to evaluate the use of their facilities and assess theirstrengths and weaknesses.
