About
The Carolinian was digitized in 2010 and 2011 under the supervision of the Digital Projects Unit of UNCG University Libraries and the Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives. Digitization was completed by Creekside Digital as part of a Sloan Foundation Grant, administered through Lyrasis' Mass Digitization Collaborative.
Files are presented on this site as fully text-searchable PDF (portable document format) files. Master files are stored in TIFF format on the University Libraries' dark archive. The site is hosted by UNCG University Libraries' Electronic Resources and Information Technology department using CONTENTdm software.
As of 2012, new issues added to the collection are presented as born-digital PDF files generated directly from the newspaper's publishing software, resulting in higher image quality and superior text searching.
